Description

Ingredients
Scale
Steak Marinade
- 1 pound beef sirloin steak or beef tenderloin
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Gnocchi and Cooking
- 2 pounds dried packaged gnocchi
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 2 cloves minced garlic
- 1/4 cup freshly grated parmesan cheese for serving (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Steak: Dice the steak into bite-sized pieces, trimming off any excess fat or sinew. Place the steak bites into a gallon-sized resealable plastic bag or a shallow bowl for marinating.
- Marinate the Steak: Add lemon juice, olive oil, Worcestershire sauce, apple cider vinegar, onion powder, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper into the steak container. Toss to coat evenly, seal or cover, and refrigerate for at least 1 hour up to 8 hours to enhance flavor and tenderness.
- Cook the Gnocchi: Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the gnocchi and cook according to package instructions until they float to the surface, about 2-3 minutes. Drain and set aside.
- Sear the Steak Bites: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Using tongs, add half of the marinated steak bites to the skillet, leaving behind excess marinade liquid to avoid steaming. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the steak pieces are well browned and seared, about 3-5 minutes. Remove the cooked steak to a plate and repeat with the remaining steak bites in batches to avoid crowding.
- Add Garlic Butter and Gnocchi: Return all the cooked steak bites to the skillet. Add butter and minced garlic to the pan, and cook for 1 minute until the garlic is fragrant and lightly toasted. Add the cooked gnocchi and sauté together for 3 to 5 minutes, allowing the gnocchi to brown slightly and absorb the flavors.
- Serve: Serve the steak bites and gnocchi hot, sprinkled with freshly grated Parmesan cheese if desired for an extra layer of flavor.
Notes
- For best results, marinate the steak for at least 1 hour but no longer than 8 hours to maintain texture.
- If using fresh gnocchi, reduce the boiling time to about 1-2 minutes as they cook faster.
- Use a cast iron skillet for better searing and browning of steak bites.
- Substitute Parmesan cheese with Pecorino Romano for a sharper flavor.
- Leftover steak bites and gnocchi can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 days.
- For a low-fat version, use less butter or substitute with olive oil.
