Main Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 10-ounce can Rotel tomatoes
- 1 16-ounce box Velveeta cheese
Instructions
- Brown the beef: Place the ground beef in a large pot on the stove over medium heat. Cook, stirring occasionally, until the beef is fully browned and no longer pink. Drain any excess fat if desired.
- Prepare the cheese: Cut the Velveeta cheese into chunks to facilitate faster and even melting during cooking.
- Combine ingredients and melt cheese: Add the whole can of Rotel tomatoes (including the juice) to the browned beef. Stir in the chunks of Velveeta cheese. Stir frequently over medium heat until the cheese is completely melted and the mixture is smooth and creamy.
- Serve: Transfer the hot cheese dip to a serving bowl and serve warm with your favorite dippable foods such as tortilla chips, crackers, or vegetables.
Notes
- For a spicier dip, use hot Rotel tomatoes instead of mild.
- Drain excess fat from the cooked beef to reduce grease in the dip.
- Keep the dip warm by using a slow cooker set to low or a small electric warmer during parties.
- Substitute Velveeta with processed cheese alternatives if desired, but Velveeta melts best for a creamy texture.
- Add chopped jalapeños or green chilies for extra heat and flavor.
