- 1 teaspoon garlic salt
- 1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

- 1 cup (113 g) mozzarella cheese, shredded, divided
- 1 cup (113 g) sharp cheddar cheese, shredded, divided
- parsley, chopped for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
- Slice Bread: Cut the loaf of Italian bread lengthwise into two halves and place them cut side up onto the prepared baking sheet.
- Prepare Butter Mixture: In a small bowl, mix softened butter with grated parmesan cheese, garlic salt, and Italian seasoning. Spread this mixture evenly over the cut sides of the bread halves and set aside.
- Cook Ground Beef: Heat a large skillet over medium heat, add ground beef and cook while breaking it up with a spatula until browned and fully cooked, about 7 minutes. Drain any excess grease.
- Simmer Marinara: Reduce the heat to low, stir in 1 cup of marinara sauce with the cooked beef, and simmer for 3 minutes until heated through. Remove from heat.
- Assemble Bread: Spread half of the beef and marinara mixture onto each bread half. Sprinkle ½ cup mozzarella and ½ cup sharp cheddar over each.
- Bake Bread: Bake in the preheated oven for 14 minutes or until the bread is toasted and cheese is melted.
- Broil for Finish: Turn the oven to broil, broil the bread for 3 minutes watching carefully until the cheese turns golden brown.
- Garnish and Serve: Sprinkle chopped parsley over the top, cut into pieces, and serve immediately with the remaining 1 cup marinara sauce as a dipping sauce.
Notes
- For air fryer instructions, place bread into the air fryer basket and air fry at 350°F for 5 minutes until cheese is melted and golden.
- Using fresh herbs like parsley adds a nice freshness to the rich flavors.
- You can substitute ground beef with ground turkey for a leaner option.
- Allow the bread to cool slightly before cutting to prevent the cheese from sliding off.
- If you prefer a spicier option, add crushed red pepper flakes to the meat mixture.
