Description

This Halloween Mocktail is a festive and fruity non-alcoholic sangria perfect for parties and gatherings. Made with non-alcoholic red wine or fruit juice, a variety of fresh fruits, cinnamon sticks, and optional sparkling water or ginger ale, it offers a refreshing and spooky drink that’s easy to prepare and delightfully customizable.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1 bottle non-alcoholic red wine OR 4 cups pomegranate or grape juice
  • 2 oranges (or blood oranges)
  • 20 black grapes, sliced
  • 15 blackberries or blueberries
  • 3 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 red apple, sliced
  • 2 cups sparkling water or ginger ale (optional)
  • 2-4 tablespoons maple syrup (optional)
  • Extra fruit for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Fruit and Cinnamon: Place the sliced oranges, black grapes, blackberries or blueberries, red apple slices, and cinnamon sticks into a large pitcher or punch bowl.
  2. Add the Base Liquid: Pour in the non-alcoholic red wine or pomegranate/grape juice over the fruit and cinnamon mixture. Stir gently to combine all ingredients without bruising the fruit.
  3. Mull the Mocktail: Refrigerate the mixture for at least 1 hour, preferably up to 2-4 hours, allowing the flavors to meld and intensify.
  4. Add Sparkling Beverage: When ready to serve, gently stir the mocktail again and add sparkling water or ginger ale if desired, taking care not to disturb the bubbles too much.
  5. Sweeten to Taste: Taste the mocktail and add maple syrup in tablespoon increments, stirring gently, until the desired sweetness is achieved.
  6. Serve: Pour the mocktail over ice into glasses and garnish with extra orange slices, cinnamon sticks, and additional fruit as desired.

Notes

  • Use a non-alcoholic Merlot or Shiraz for best flavor, but any red non-alcoholic wine or fruit juice like pomegranate or grape juice will work.
  • Adjust the sweetness with maple syrup after adding sparkling water or ginger ale by tasting and adding in small increments to suit your preference.
  • This recipe is ideal for at least 3 servings but can be scaled down for single servings using a smaller pitcher or glass.
  • Letting the mocktail mull longer intensifies the fruity and spicy flavors.
  • For a truly festive touch, garnish with blood orange slices and extra cinnamon sticks.
