Instructions
- Prepare Chocolate: Place the chocolate chips or candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl. If using chocolate chips, add 1 tablespoon of shortening to help with melting. Microwave in 30-second increments, stirring after each, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth.
- Dip Pretzels: For pretzel rods, pour melted chocolate into a tall glass and dip each rod halfway, then tap against the glass to remove excess chocolate.
- Coat with Sprinkles: After dipping pretzel rods, coat them with sprinkles and place on parchment paper to dry. For pretzel twists, use a fork to dip each pretzel fully in chocolate, tap fork against bowl to remove excess chocolate, and slide pretzel off fork onto parchment using a toothpick, then sprinkle with toppings.
- Dry and Serve: Let the chocolate-covered pretzels dry completely at room temperature. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container for up to 2 weeks.
