Ingredients
Scale
Chicken
- 2 large boneless, skinless chicken breasts
Coating
- 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese, grated
- 1/2 cup Panko breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
Others
- 1 large egg, beaten
- Olive oil spray, for air fryer basket and chicken
Instructions
- Preheat the Air Fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C) for about 5 minutes to prepare it for cooking.
- Prepare the Coating: In a shallow dish, combine the grated Parmesan cheese, Panko breadcrumbs, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix well to create a seasoned breadcrumb mixture.
- Coat the Chicken: Dip each chicken breast fully into the beaten egg, letting excess drip off to help the coating stick properly.
- Breadcrumb Coating: Place the egg-coated chicken breasts into the breadcrumb mixture. Press the breadcrumbs onto the chicken firmly to ensure a thick, even crust.
- Prep for Air Frying: Lightly spray the air fryer basket with olive oil spray to prevent sticking. Place the breaded chicken breasts inside in a single layer with space between them for even cooking.
- Air Fry: Spray the tops of the coated chicken breasts with olive oil spray. Cook at 375°F (190°C) for 10 minutes.
- Flip and Cook: Carefully flip the chicken breasts with tongs after 10 minutes. Continue cooking for an additional 8 minutes or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C) and the crust is golden and crispy.
- Serve: Remove the chicken from the air fryer and let it rest for one minute. Slice and serve hot for a delicious meal.
Notes
- Make sure chicken breasts are of even thickness by pounding them slightly to ensure even cooking.
- Use fresh grated Parmesan cheese for best flavor and crust texture.
- If you prefer a spicier crust, add a pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes to the breadcrumb mixture.
- To keep chicken extra juicy, avoid overcooking by relying on a meat thermometer to reach 165°F (74°C).
- For a lower fat option, use a light olive oil spray instead of drenching the chicken in oil.
