Croissants
- 1 12-ounce can Pillsbury big and flaky crescent rolls
- 5 tbsp Nutella (approximately 2 tsp per croissant)
- 1/4 cup chocolate chips (approximately 1/2 tbsp per croissant)
Egg Wash
- 1 egg
- 1 tbsp water or 2% milk
Optional Garnishes
- melted chocolate chips
- honey
- powdered sugar
Instructions
- Prepare the dough: Separate the crescent rolls and lay them flat on a clean surface to prepare for filling.
- Add Nutella: Spread about 2 teaspoons of Nutella evenly over the entire top surface of each flat croissant dough.
- Add chocolate chips: Place ½ tablespoon of chocolate chips at the large end of each croissant.
- Roll croissants: Starting from the large end, carefully roll each croissant towards the smaller end, sealing the edges as you go.
- Make egg wash: In a small bowl, whisk together 1 egg and 1 tablespoon of water or 2% milk until fully combined.
- Brush egg wash: Generously brush the uncooked croissants with the egg wash to give them a shiny, golden finish when cooked.
- Prepare air fryer basket: Spray the bottom of the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Air fry croissants: Place croissants in a single layer in the basket, allowing some space for spreading. Air fry at 360 degrees Fahrenheit for 8 minutes or until croissants are golden brown.
- Add optional garnishes: After cooking, lightly drizzle warm honey, melted chocolate chips, and dust with powdered sugar if desired.
Notes
- Use cooking spray on the air fryer basket to prevent sticking and ensure easy removal.
- The egg wash is essential for achieving a golden, shiny crust—do not skip it.
- Adjust the amount of Nutella and chocolate chips according to preference.
- If you don’t have an air fryer, these croissants can be baked in an oven at 375°F for 10-12 minutes.
- Allow space between croissants in the air fryer to prevent them from sticking together as they expand.
- Optional garnishes enhance appearance and flavor but can be omitted for a simpler treat.
