Ingredients
Scale
Fritter
- 1 ½ cups all-purpose white flour
- 3 tablespoons white granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
- ½ cup whole milk
- 1½ tablespoons lemon juice
- 2 large eggs, cold
- 2 gala apples, diced
Glaze
- ½ cup powdered sugar
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- ¼ cup whole milk
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
Instructions
- Combine Dry Ingredients: Whisk together the flour, baking soda, white granulated sugar, brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a medium-sized mixing bowl. Set aside.
- Combine Wet Ingredients: In a separate bowl, whisk together the whole milk, lemon juice, and cold eggs until smooth and well blended.
- Mix Batter: Gently fold the dry ingredient mixture into the wet ingredients, taking care not to overmix to avoid tough fritters.
- Add Apples: Fold the diced Gala apples into the batter evenly.
- Prep Air Fryer: Line the basket of the air fryer with parchment paper. Using a ¼ cup measure, scoop dollops of the fritter batter onto the parchment paper, spacing them comfortably.
- Air Fry Fritters: Cook the fritters in the air fryer at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 7 minutes. Carefully flip each fritter and air fry for an additional 4 minutes until golden and cooked through.
- Make Glaze: While the fritters cook, whisk together powdered sugar, vanilla extract, whole milk, and cinnamon until smooth and pourable. Adjust thickness with more powdered sugar if desired.
- Glaze Fritters: As soon as the fritters come out of the air fryer, spoon the glaze evenly over each fritter for a sweet finish.
- Serve: Enjoy the apple fritters warm or at room temperature for the best flavor and texture.
Notes
- Choose a crisp apple variety such as Gala, Honeycrisp, or Granny Smith for best texture and flavor.
- Use whole milk in the glaze to achieve a rich, creamy consistency. Adjust thickness by adding powdered sugar tablespoon by tablespoon if needed.
- Store cooled fritters in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to 1 week.
- Reheat in the microwave in 10-second increments or warm in a 325 degrees Fahrenheit oven on a parchment-lined baking sheet for about 10 minutes.
